St Mary’s Catholic Primary School

St Mary’s is a primary school based in Staffordshire who were looking to refurbish all aspects of the school, bringing it up to date and ready to meet the needs of pupils across different year groups.
The objectives
We have worked with many schools designing furniture around the specific needs of the building, educational needs and age groups and had worked with the Business Manager of St Mary’s previously at another school, where our reputation for high quality and service served us well in securing our involvement in this exciting project.
The school buildings needed to be brought up to date and to meet the needs of lessons such as ICT, dance and food technology, and also to provide staff with accessible and modern facilities too.
The process
The team at LiDR designed, manufactured and installed bespoke, project specific furniture for different aspects of the school.
Staff facilities
We created bespoke pieces for the meeting rooms, staff offices, boardrooms and kitchenettes. These are designed with simplicity and practicality in mind. The tables and chairs are striking in contrasting colours, adding vibrancy to a room whilst being functional at the same time.
Reception area
We created a counter for the reception area enabling visitors to the school to easily access staff and safely deliver items. This is the first place many visitors see, so it had to create the right impression. With the bold blue walls, and the white counter, it delivers an impact straight away, as it matches the school emblem.
Classrooms
We supplied media walls throughout the school to enable easy access to equipment and to aid learning and development. These are a great addition to any school and with the bespoke items of furniture that we designed and manufactured, St Mary’s had classrooms fit for teaching and learning. We also manufactured new tops for the classroom tables so they were updated, modern and matched the media walls.
ICT room
A technology room set up for learning about all the basics of ICT! This room really had the wow factor with tables set out to house laptops and a large plasma screen positioned to enable practical learning.
Library
We created bespoke designed furniture as bookshelves and areas for children to sit and enjoy choosing and reading books during library time. The wall decorations added to the overall theme and gave a sense of excitement and discovery.
Food technology room
A space was designed to be practical, safe, easy to keep clean and have storage areas that could house all the necessary equipment for a busy room in the school.
Additional bespoke items
Schools have a lot of equipment and keeping it somewhere safe and concealed was essential in this refurbishment. We designed and manufactured lockers in general areas of the school and created vital storage space in their dance studio.
The result
Once the entire refurbishment had been completed, the school had facilities to continue to meet the needs of its pupils and staff for the long term. The staff and pupils were thrilled with the results and are fully utilising every aspect of the furniture the team at LiDR delivered.
