Delivering a transformational workplace for DJH
Chester
A transformation to support people, ambitions, and a positive culture.
Overview
DJH is a UK wide Accountancy and Business Advisory business with offices in many parts of the country. It has been pursuing ambitious business growth over recent years, and we were delighted to work with The Interior Design Practice on this project for their DJH’s Chester office and help create areas that embrace their people, ambitions and positive culture.
The DJH team wanted to transform the way they are able to utilise their workspace and this had a huge influence on the design. We used materials that tied the whole theme of the workspace together for a consistent feel throughout.
Some of the objectives included creating breakout zones for collaboration, team learning or areas to simply catch up with colleagues and hold informal meetings. As the design process got underway, the need to create an environment that is welcoming, vibrant and aligned to the company culture was key to moving the plans forward.
A workspace is an integral part of organisational culture which helps to foster a real sense of pride and belonging for both clients and employees. The process of design took this into consideration to create bespoke furniture that met and exceeded these objectives. We set about creating items that made people feel welcome and made spaces inviting.
As people enter the building, we created a bespoke reception counter to provide a warm welcome to visitors.
Meeting rooms
The main meeting room featured a meeting table, big enough to seat 8 people, with a feature wall with wood panelling, providing a contemporary feel. We fitted a monitor on this wall with some handy storage units underneath to keep everything concealed. This upheld the look of clean lines but added a modern and sleek feel to the room. We also created bespoke furniture for other smaller meeting rooms that are perfect for staff and client discussions.
This wasn’t any ordinary canteen! We wanted to create a premium ‘restaurant feel’ space for employees to break from work, meet and eat together.
With long rectangular, picnic style tables, these are perfect for socialising over lunch, chatting over a hot drink or taking a much needed break from the desk.
This area really incorporated their organisational culture and desire to foster collaboration wherever possible. We created the kitchen area units which not only had bar stools that are adjacent to the food preparation area, but they are located to overlook the main seating areas for additional socialising opportunities.
The result
LiDR’s state of the art bespoke design and manufacturing process means that we’re able to work with businesses to understand their exact requirements and turn these into practical spaces with high end office kitchen, units, seating and meeting room furniture. In this project, we were able to satisfy a number of the key objectives, and the finished result was outstanding.
Design and quality should never be compromised when creating functional spaces and these new areas support their wider organisational culture and allow individuals to flow freely during their downtime. With the meeting room spaces, they are simple and stylish without being overpowering or intimidating.
